Postpartum Healing Liability
Some postpartum services include the use of baths, massage, and herbal topical therapies. These are old traditions used to help in aiding the mother's physical and emotional recovery. This process does not take from the need for any medical attention needed. The postpartum healing services are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any diseases.

When is the first binding done?
For a vaginal birth I can bind you within the first 24 hours and as soon as 2Â hours postpartum, Some of the benefits are best in the first 24 hours.

How and when do I notify you?
Notify me when you are in labor and again when the baby is born. Please call or send me a text message once you go into labor so that I can make myself available, especially if you want immediate postpartum binding. You will provide me with a desired time of binding and I will confirm the time I can come to you. If it is night time or early dawn hours, calling over texting will be best.

How far do you travel?
Abdominal Binding sessions are provided at the client's home, with the exception of the first visit, which is usually the location of birth. I am willing to travel 30 miles from my home zip code of 91910. I charge 58 cents per additional mile out of my 30 mile range.

Do you have working hours?
I have flexible hours throughout the day. For immediate postpartum visits, I charge $40 more for services provided after 9 p.m. and before 9 a.m.

What if you are not available within 24 hours?

How long can I wear the bandage for?
I recommend leaving it on for a minimum of 3 days before binding again. You can re apply the same bandage once before needing a new one. For both vaginal and cesarean births it is recommended to have it on daily for the two weeks following, for at least 8 hours a day.

Recomiendo dejarlo encendido durante un mÃnimo de 3 dÃas antes de volver a unir. Puede volver a aplicar el mismo vendaje una vez antes de necesitar uno nuevo. Are there any risks?
There is a small risk with developing a skin rash or itchiness to either the oil used for massage, or the bandages. Please discontinue use, wipe the abdomen area with a soft warm wet cloth, and let me know immediately. If you become allergic to bandage material, partial refund will be applied. Travel will not be applied if the services were done.

What if I have a Cesarean birth?
For caesareans, it is recommended to apply it before getting up to walk. The binding is gentle around the incision and will support the body’s weight off of incision while standing.

How long will the binding visit take?
The first binding is usually the quickest because I want to let the birthing parent rest. Time of sessions vary between 20-30 minutes.

Yes, nurses can still check for uterine firmness after bandage is applied.

Can I shower with the bandage?
No, it is best to shower prior to the binding so that it can be left on for at least 8-24 hours. If possible, I recommend bathing around the abdomen area, by having someone help with washing your hair over the sink or to shower with a bowl to avoid getting the bandage wet.

No, es mejor ducharse antes de la unión para que pueda dejarse encendida durante al menos 8-24 horas. Can I buy extra bandages and have someone else apply it?
Yes, additional bandages are $10 each. Someone can be present when I apply for one of them so that I can guide them. I recommend this option if binding is needed past the agreement time of care, so that the binding can continue after my care. Additional bindings past agreement time will be discounted at $30.

Luna Birth Services utilizes certified and organic herbs and flowers. Sometimes fresh and harvested by Paulina, the day prior or the morning before the visit. Listed below are the ones I commonly use and make blends from, or use fresh for postpartum baths. These are just some of the healing benefits the herbs provide. Calendula - Used for skin treatments, minor burns, external bleeding wounds, bruises, aids in cramping relief.
Rosemary - Circulatory, antibacterial aromatic, and analgesic
Chamomile - anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, helps in calming and sleep, provides relief from gastritis discomfort and is used for menstrual cramps. Latin name derives from the word matriz; womb.

Lemongrass - antibacterial, antigun gal, gastrointestinal aid. It's aromatic smell cleanses and and uplifts. Great for postpartum bath and for tea.
Anise - warming effect on body, helps with milk production, helps ease the gut, and helps release gases from the body.
